Parents are their children’s first and most important teachers.
Family Reading Partners seeks to increase family literacy and engages parents as they discover the power in shared conversation around books. FRP volunteers model reading and conversational techniques to help parents nurture brain development during the critical growth years from birth to 5 years old. Families keep the books to add to their home collections.
Despite the pandemic, our volunteers have given away more than 1,000 books and made over 500 visits (mostly virtual) this year with our families and in partnership with other local non-profits who share our relationship with families of young children.
